Cooking your favorite Shortbread this Christmas

by Cherabella Buttons
Cherabella Buttons

Friday, 07 December 2012 Category CheraBella Blog 0 Comments

Ingredients
  • 100g butter, chilled, coarsely chopped
  • 150g (1 cup) plain flour
  • 45g (1/4 cup) icing sugar mixture, sifted
  • 1 tbs water
  • 1 x 19g tube Cake Mate writing icing
  • 10 silver dragees or smarties
  • 1.5m ribbon

  • Method

  • Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper.

Place the butter, flour and icing sugar mixture in the bowl of a food processor

and process until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the water and process until

the dough just starts to come together.

  • Step 2

Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead until just smooth. Roll out dough

    between 2 sheets of non-stick baking paper to 7mm-thick disc.Use a 7cm-diameter

star-shaped pastry cutter to cut 10 stars from the dough. Transfer to the lined tray.

Place in the fridge for 30 minutes to chill.

  • Step 3

Arrange the stars in a circle, overlapping slightly in at least 2 points of each star and

gently pressing to seal, to form a wreath shape.

  • Step 4

Bake in oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden. Set aside on the tray for 30 minutes

    to cool completely.

  • Step 5

Transfer the wreath to a clean work surface. Pipe a little of the icing onto the centre of

each star and decorate with a dragee or smartie.  Set aside for 10-15 minutes to set.

Thread the ribbon between the stars and tie the

ends in a bow to secure.

Enjoy your day and have fun making this shortbread.

Well I made it and we had a ball..

My first retreat has been and gone and I must say we did well.

Everyone had arrived and we were still getting ready.

So we were on our way and nearly 2 hrs later. For those who know

me well I don't like to be later for anything..

When we arrived Monica was already there as she has picked up

Edith and Sue who had come from Newcastle

Benita had already arrived from Melbourne 2 days before.

After Dinner we headed done to the seminar room to do our meet and greet..

After all the meets and greets the ladies got to have a peek in their

sample bags. I know everyone was happy.

After all our time together our weekend was a great success !!!

Rose Daly had the winning Quilt.

It was great to meet so many of our club members from all over Australia.

Next year we have friends from Perth coming over for our girls weekend.

    Until next time happy stitching

    Team CheraBella  Kez and Dan

    Hi Again ...

Its been a few weeks since we chatted last and time has flown buy since New Years.

Our first block to our mystery quilt for our 2012 club project has been stitched and the first section of

    borders has been finished.

We are a few days behind with the rain but still on track for our mail out this week.

Our CheraBella team is hard at work and Teresa is busy getting our retreat plans started.

It's still raining after a week so no button making this week.

Only members will see this quilt each mailout and then in November I will get our final pattern done

ready to be posted out with all their buttons.

Dan(button boy) has been great helping me as all members will receive 17 buttons.

    Until next we meet

    Kez and Dan
